Over 35 thousand people have been inoculated against the coronavirus in Sierra Leone. The vaccination exercise roll out started on March 22, with many of those vaccinated experiencing only mild side effects.

While the country has received over ninety thousand doses of the Chinese donated Sinopharm and WHO’s Astrazeneca, it is expecting to receive more in the coming months to ensure herd immunity is achieved through mass vaccination.

Sierra Leone has so far recorded close to four thousand COVID-19 cases and 80 deaths.

WADR’s Patrick Sallia has been speaking to Risk Communications Lead for the National Covid 19 Emergency Response Center Harold Thomas, who doubles as Communications Manager for the Ministry of Health, about his assessment of the roll out so far.
