Journalists in Senegal say they have experienced increasing intimidation since opposition leader Ousmane Sonko was detained for several days earlier this month. Sonko’s arrest and subsequent release sparked unrest and claimed at least five lives.

While Media rights groups have accused the government of clamping down on the press to quash the protests, journalists are also under fire from Sonko supporters, especially after they interviewed a woman who filed a rape charge against the opposition leader.

Adolphus Mawlolo reports.
