Now, despite tighter restrictions imposed on movement by governments to stall the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic, the flow of irregular African migrants to Europe continues unabated.

The United Nations, governments and migration experts have listed many factors fuelling the menace.

These includes repressive policies on legal migration, poverty, conflict and outbreaks of violence and trafficking.

But as Adolphus reports from the mining town of Mboro, west of the Senegalese capital of Dakar, there are far bigger factors fueling irregular migration from the continent that are rarely spoken of.
