The United States has removed Liberia from the list of nations that do not maintain effective anti-terrorism measures.
For over a decade, long vessels carrying Liberian flags have been subjected to rigorous security measures and checks.
In addition, in June 2020, the coast guard published the marine notice 1-20 presenting which countries are not in line with anti-terrorism measures and which countries are affected. Liberia was among those affected, with the exception of Port of Monrovia.
The removal of Liberia from this list now paves the way for vessels arriving from the country to no longer be designated for special security measures and checks.
