Ghana’s Supreme Court has set Thursday, February 11, 2021, to rule on whether or not Chair of the Electoral commission and the campaign manager for the governing new patriotic party will have to take the witness stand in the ongoing election petition hearing.
This follows a decision by the counsels for the 1st and 2nd Respondents not to call forth any witnesses to give evidence in court, much to the surprise of many Ghanaians and the legal team of the petitioner.
On Tuesday, lawyers for all the parties, namely, John Mahama, the Electoral commission and President Akufo-Addo all made their augments for the hearing of the Apex court with petitioner, John Mahama’s team demanding the EC Chair Jean Mensa be compelled to testify while the 1st and 2nd Respondents argued otherwise.
