Education think tank Africa Education Watch is calling on African governments to prioritize the health and education of children as the coronavirus pandemic continues to wreak havoc in many parts of the continent.
For millions of children on the continent, academic activities have been disrupted and in some instances, grinded to a halt since March 2020 when schools closed down to prevent the continued spread of the virus.
With some schools gradually reopening this year, Africa Education Watch says it is important to ensure no child is left behind, adding that all preventive measures must be put in place to ensure the utmost safety of pupils.
Nsa Kofi Asare is executive Director of the think tank, he spoke in commemoration of international day of education marked on January 24, 2121.
