The ECOWAS envoy to Mali former Nigerian President Goodluck JOHNATAN says the transitional government is making steady progress on its core mandate of returning Mali to democratic rule.

Mr. Jonathan made the statement on Monday at the start of a two day working visit to the country.

During his stay, the Mediator and his delegation will meet with the transitional authorities. 

They will also have a working session with the Independent National Electoral Commission, General Delegation for Elections, leaders of political parties and civil society.
