Authorities in Niger republic say at least 27 people lost their lives in an attack by Boko Haram terrorist in the Country’s South East region.
A senior local official confirming the news on Sunday, said more people were injured and others still missing in the attack that took place Saturday evening in the Village of Toumour – Diffa Region.
According to the official, some victims were killed or wounded by bullets, while some were burnt inside their houses, consumed by the flames of the fire set by the attackers.
witnesses revealed that about 70 attackers arrived at the village at around 1745 GMT on foot, having swum across Lake Chad.
Between 800 and 1,000 houses, the central market and numerous vehicles were also destroyed in the fire – nearly 60 percent of the village has been destroyed.
The came hours before municipal and regional elections went ahead across the country on Sunday.
