The Ethiopian government has granted the United Nations full access to deliver aid to Tigray, northern region of the country following weeks of lobbying amid military operation.

The Agreement signed by Ethiopia’s peace minister Wednesday, allows for "unimpeded, sustained and secure access for humanitarian personnel and services to vulnerable populations in Tigray and bordering areas of Amhara and Afar regions.

According to the UN, Thousands have died in subsequent fighting and tens of thousands have fled into neighboring Sudan since the offensive began on November 4.

Recall, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, announced a military operation against the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF), over alleged attacks of federal army camps in the northern region.

Prior to the military campaign on Tigray, nearly 600,000 people, among them 96,000 Eritrean refugees depended on food handouts.

Meanwhile, phone and internet connections remain jammed, making claims by both the federal army and Tigrayan forces unverifiable.
