The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said on Tuesday that More than 8,000 Ivorians fleeing the violence surrounding the October 31 presidential election in Côte d'Ivoire have sought refuge in neighboring countries, including at least 7,500 in Liberia.

The United Nations Refugee Agency indicates that as of Monday, November 9, more than 7,500 Ivorians have fled to Liberia. At the same time, more than 500 Ivorians have also arrived in Ghana, Guinea and Togo. 

It says more than 60% of these arrivals are children, some of whom are unaccompanied or separated from their parents.
