In Liberia, the shortage of the Liberian dollar in the currency market has resulted in a huge drop in the exchange thereby increasing the value of the local currency.
Previously one would need 199 Liberian dollars to purchase one United States dollar but as it stands, you only need 150 Liberian dollars to purchase one United States dollar.
The situation has led to a rush for the local currency rather than the United States dollars in the country.
WADR’s Darlington Porkpa has been following the situation and now reports from Monrovia.
