The International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) and its member organizations are urging political actors in Cote d’Ivoire to engage in dialogue among themselves and with civil society.

The plea comes two weeks to go before a tense presidential election.

As the opposition has announced its withdrawal from the electoral process, tension is mounting in the country.

In a statement on Monday, FIDH said that they are witnessing the reconstruction of the same socio-political context that led to the post-electoral violence of 2010 and 2011.

The Secretary-General of the organization Drissa Traoré said that his organization and its members are concerned about the rapidly evolving situation as he called for calm.
