Ghana’s Parliament resumes today, Tuesday, October 15, with the NDC Minority MPs hinting at plans to trigger a process that would cause the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to lose its Majority status in the House, as three MPs from the party file to contest as independent candidates.
One MP from the side of the NDC MPs is also running as an independent candidate.
The NDC MPs are seeking to rely on Article 97 (1) (g) of the country’s constitution that states that – A member of Parliament shall vacate his seat “if he leaves the party of which he was a member at the time of his election to Parliament to join another party or seeks to remain in Parliament as an independent member.
