The police service in Ghana is on a manhunt for the perpetrators of a violent clash between the supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that left nine persons injured.

The clash occurred in Mamobi, a suburb of Accra on Sunday, October 13 after a routine political campaign walk by the two parties turned violent between supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) left two people allegedly shot.

Eyewitnesses reported that the clash began over a dispute about which group would pass through a specific area first. Tensions escalated when NDC motorbike riders confronted NPP supporters, leading to a verbal exchange that quickly turned physical with one person pulling out a gun and shooting indiscriminately.

In a statement, the Ghana Police Service confirmed that seven of the injured victims have been treated and discharged, while two remain hospitalized.

This incident raises concerns about the escalating tensions between political parties ahead of the general election on December 7, 2024.
