As Ghana prepares for the 2024 general elections, the West Africa Democracy Solidarity Network (WADEMOS) and the West Africa Election Observers Network (WAEON) have called on the Electoral Commission to prioritize transparency by enhancing communication and providing the comprehensive and final voter register to political parties as soon as possible.
In their Pre-Election Solidarity Mission Report, WADEMOS and WAEON emphasize that the timely release of the voter register is critical for allowing political parties to plan their activities and reducing the risk of electoral disputes.
They also expressed concern that political rhetoric from the two main parties, NDC and NPP, could inflame tensions, urging restraint and circumspection from all sides to ensure a peaceful electoral process.
