Police in The Gambia have arrested and detained journalist Muhammed Justice Darboe for his article which claims President Barrow has chosen a successor as part of an exit plan.

According to unconfirmed reports, Darboe is charged with false publication and broadcasting.

This comes as the Gambia Press Union (GPU) expressed concern that President Adama Barrow is considering taking legal action against The Voice newspaper over a story.
