Exactly a week after the devastating floods in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, hundreds of thousands of people remain displaced and in need of urgent life-saving assistance.

The 3 decades record flood was triggered by the collapse of the Alou dam, some kilometres away from Borno state capital.

Speaking on relief efforts, the UN says its Agencies such as the World Food Program and partners have deployed field workers to assist scores of displaced people in the northeastern state grappling with a 15-year Boko Haram insurgency, climate change and the recent inflation.

Emmanuel Bigenimana, the head of WFP’s office in Maiduguri, tells WADR of his agency’s response efforts in collaboration with the state government and partners.
