An Energy Analyst and Chairman of the Oil and Gas Committee of the AGI, Kwame Jantuah, is making a case for more local involvement in the exploration of crude in the country amid concerns over the latest PIAC findings pointing to decline in crude oil production and earnings for the fourth consecutive year in Ghana.

The 2023 Annual Report by the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) highlights a decrease from 71.44 million barrels in 2019 to 48.25 million barrels in 2023, indicating an average annual decline of 9.2 percent.
