A coalition of Civil Society groups in Nigeria gathered in the capital, Abuja, to voice their opposition to a proposed bill currently in the National Assembly.
The bill suggests allowing citizens to bear arms for self-defense amid the escalating insecurity in the country.
Speaking to the press on Wednesday, the group asserted that the overall concept of the bill, aiming to legalize the possession of arms by non-state actors, goes against the national interest.
