31 journalists killed in Israel-Hamas conflict, CPJ reports

At least 31 journalists have been killed covering the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, (CPJ) 26 Palestinians, 4 Israelis, and 1 Lebanese have lost their lives in the line of duty since the start of the conflict.

8 journalists have been reported injured, while 9 are feared missing or detained, said CPJ.

In a statement, the organization described the risks journalists in Gaza face as they try to cover the conflict.

Ground assaults, devastating airstrikes, disrupted communications and extensive power outages, are many of the challenges.

CPJ mentioned Roshdi Sarraj a Palestinian filmmaker and Issam Abdallah, a Beirut-based videographer for Reuters, among those killed near the Lebanon border – A claim The Israel Defense Forces IDF, says it is investigating.

The IDF also told Reuters and AFP that it could not guarantee the safety of their journalists operating in the Gaza Strip after they had sought assurances that their employees would not be harmed by Israeli strikes.
