Joel Embiid, the reigning NBA Most Valuable Player, recently announced on social media that he will play for the United States in the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris.
This choice has left his native Cameroon “legitimately disappointed,” according to an anonymous source within the country’s basketball governing body.
While there were hopes that Embiid would represent Cameroon, his decision to join the United States has stirred mixed reactions among Cameroonians.
France had also shown interest in his participation since he received French citizenship last year.
The source expressed that it’s understandable why some people are disappointed with Embiid’s choice.
