West Ham United manager David Moyes expressed his satisfaction with securing a point after Mohammed Kudus scored a late equalizer, preventing Newcastle United from winning in an exciting match at London Stadium.
Newcastle was on the brink of their fifth consecutive victory as Alexander Isak netted twice in the second half, responding to Tomas Soucek’s early goal for West Ham.
Kudus, scoring his first Premier League goal since his summer transfer to West Ham, fired a decisive shot into the bottom corner, ensuring a shared outcome.
Moyes, speaking to BBC Match of the Day, acknowledged the strength of the opposing team: “We were up against a really good team who are probably as good as most teams in Europe at the moment.”
He added, “We nearly won it in the end. Newcastle played well and we didn’t give them too many opportunities. We had a few ourselves.”
The draw left West Ham and Newcastle in the seventh and eighth positions in the table, respectively, as both teams returned to league action following their European triumphs.
