Emerging reports from Mali, confirm the deployment of over a hundred military trucks conveying troops to the northern region to prevent a deterioration of the security situation there.

The deployment by the transitional government was compelled by the renewed fighting by the former rebel group – The Coordination of Azawad Movements CMA.

For over a month, the ex-Tuareg rebel has engaged the Malian army in heavy fighting for control of UN bases and territories as MINUSMA withdraws.

Another standing point is the fallout between the two parties over the full implementation of the 2015 Algiers peace agreement.

Concerned security and political analysts in Bamako say they fear another wave of armed insurrection as well as a further delay of the transition charter.

Here is Dr. Alpha Alhadj Koina, a political analyst.
