Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo has launched phase two of the government’s flagship programme on agriculture, “Planting for Food and Jobs” to consolidate the gains made in phase 1.

The initiative first launched in 2017, aims to address the soaring food inflation in the country, reduce Ghana’s dependence on food imports, and achieve food security in the shortest possible time.

Phase two of the project, however, will provide affordable and timely credit designed to meet farmers’ needs, replacing the input subsidy under the first.

WADR’s Accra correspondent Atiewin Mbillah-Lawson reports.
