Over three thousand illegal miners including Mali, Togo, Burkina Faso, and Niger nationals have been arrested in Taraba State, North East of Nigeria.

The task force was created due to a rise in reports of wanton destruction to the environment by mining activities.

The suspects were allegedly brandishing firearms and threatening the local population.
