The Nigerien national coordination centre of the early warning and response mechanism to security risks assessment shows a drop in the number of civilian victims of terrorist acts in the country.
The data indicates a 60% decline in 2022 and 69 % in 2023 compared to September 1, 2021.
According to the analysis, civilian populations are increasingly spared from mass executions committed in 2021 by terrorist groups affiliated with the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (EIGS) or the Support Group for Islam and Muslims (GSIM)’.
