Senegal’s opposition Political Coalition – Yewwi Askan Wii is pressing home its second demand after President Macky Sall’s’ declaration of non–candidacy in the February 2024 elections.
President Sall’s move has been praised by local and international analysts as a giant leap in restoring peace in one of Africa’s modern democracies following a series of violent confrontations.
Bloomberg reported late Tuesday that Senegalese international bonds also rallied as investors welcomed President Sall’s decision.
