The Alliance of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) Working on Extractives, Anti-Corruption, and Good Governance in Ghana has called on the Electricity Company (ECG) to conduct a thorough audit and streamline their activities.
This call comes after the Chamber of Independent Power Producers which controls over 65% of the available thermal generation capacity threatened a shutdown of its power plants over a debt of 1.7 billion dollars owed them by ECG.
Only recently, it was revealed that Ghana’s electricity company loses 30% of the power given to it to distribute due to technical and commercial anomalies, translating to a loss of 30 cents on each dollar of power received.
