Nigeria’s national football team has made a slight improvement in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola Men’s World Rankings, moving up from the 40th to the 39th position.
The rankings, released by the world football governing body on Thursday, reflect the team’s recent performance and standing in global football.
On the African continent, the Nigerians currently hold the sixth position, trailing behind Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, and Egypt.
The team’s one-place climb in the rankings can be attributed to their recent 3-2 victory over Sierra Leone in Group A of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers, which took place in Monrovia, Liberia.
