We begin with the tragic event in Burkina Faso, where an attack on the army and volunteer defence forces left 40 people dead and 33 others injured.
According to the government’s statement on Sunday, unidentified assailants were responsible for the attack, which took place on Saturday in the village of Aorema, near the town of Ouahigouya in the North Région.
The area has been a hotbed for terrorist activities, with Islamist groups affiliated with al Qaeda and Islamic State launching frequent attacks.
