Now, the cultural contributions of the African woman cannot be overemphasized, women are often behind some of the most glorious moments across the continent and on the world stage.

No doubt, powerful African women have for centuries, improved lives and inspired a better future for all.

In this edition of Our Woman of the Day, we celebrate Gina Bass, a Gambian athlete that helped her country secure different medals since the Islamic solidarity games was established in 1972.

She won the bronze medal in the 200 meters at the 2016 African Championships, qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics and was the Gambian flag bearer.
