Opposition political figures and groups have welcomed the Dakar Court ruling that requested the reinstatement of opposition politician Ousmane Sonko’s name on the electoral register.

This reversal by the Dakar court, to be accompanied by official approval, has the potential to fortify the candidacy of the incarcerated opponent for the upcoming presidential election in February 2024.
