The Gambia on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, celebrated its 60th anniversary in a colourful atmosphere with thousands of Gambians converging at the capital – Banjul for the military parade and cultural exhibitions and performances.
The country’s liberation and political independence like its neighbours far and near was not without challenges and contributions from key players – among them women.
Despite their efforts, Gambian women six decades down the road still live with daily ugly realities says Degen Jobe – Deputy Speaker of the National Youth Parliament of the Gambia.
Our guest, however, underscored the role of women as the lifeline of the nation’s economy – one of many success stories Gambian women are proud of.
