Our woman of the day in this edition is Hajiya Gambo Sawaba, from Northern Western Nigeria, who was a warrior, a defender of the defenceless and one who delightfully took over the fight on behalf of the weak.
Sawaba was married off at age 13, joined politics at age 17 and by the time she was 20, she was sent to jail, beginning her towering record as the most jailed female politician in Nigeria.
According to official records, Hajiya Gambo Sawaba was jailed 16 times in her lifetime.
