Our Woman of the Day is Jaha Dukureh, is a prominent Gambian-American activist, who has made extraordinary contributions to the fight against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in The Gambia and beyond.
Born in The Gambia, Dukureh experienced FGM first-hand at the age of one, an ordeal that deeply influenced her life and advocacy work.
Her personal struggle fueled her resolve to combat this harmful practice and advocate for women’s and girls’ rights.
