It’s time we applaud one of great African women who have been instrumental in shaping the African society, and are a vital force for development in the continent and beyond.
Today, we celebrate Joyce Banda, a pioneering leader and advocate from Malawi whose life story is one of determination, resilience, and groundbreaking achievements in politics and women’s empowerment.
Joyce Banda is a Malawian politician who served as vice president (2009–12) and president (2012–14) of Malawi. She was the first woman to serve as head of state anywhere in Southern Africa.
