The Global health body, WHO has expressed optimism about halting the MPOX outbreaks in the next six months.
The World Health Organization’s strong conviction hinges on multiple factors including rapid vaccine development and deployment and collaboration with governments of monkeypox-burdened countries.
So far, more than 18,000 suspected cases and six hundred twenty-nine deaths have been reported due to the viral disease in the Democratic Republic of Congo, epicenter of the current outbreak.
Earlier this month, the WHO was forced to declare Mpox a global public health emergency.
Across West Africa, Liberia, Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea, Nigeria and Nigeria have all reported cases of Mpox with zero deaths.
Here is Dr Tedros Adhanom Gbereyesus, addressing a virtual conference on Friday on progress made with partners, vaccine donor countries and pharmaceutical giants.
