Conflicts, extreme weather events and economic shocks are driving food insecurity in 59 countries including those in the West African sub-region.

Last year, 282 million people were food insecure according to a report by the Global Network Against Food Crises (GNAFC) – an FAO-allied humanitarian organization.

This figure represents a 24 percent increase compared to the previous data.
