The outcome of the emergency mediation and security council meeting of the Economic Community of West African States ECOWAS held in Abuja – Nigeria’s capital on Thursday.
At the end of the conference to discuss the fast-deteriorating political crisis in the subregion, the bloc, again cautioned Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger from exiting the organisation.
This time, however, it was less of a threat and more of an advice.
Yusuf Tuggar, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and chair of the meeting said ECOWAS will redouble its efforts towards diplomacy, dialogue, and reconciliation.
As Oge Obierika reports, Senegal’s political crisis did not make it to the negotiating table.
