Every February 4 calls go out around the world to create awareness of cancer.
The new World Cancer Day campaign 2025-27 “United by Unique” places people at the centre of care and will explore new ways of making a difference. It offers a three-year journey from raising awareness to taking action.
As a way of emphasis, Cancer is one of the world’s leading causes of death, and its burden is growing. The numbers will continue to rise in the decades ahead. But the cheery news is that all cancers can be treated, and many can be prevented or cured.
In West Africa, Cancer has received low priority for health care services. The reason is undoubtedly the overwhelming burden of communicable diseases.
