The first part of our program will focus on one of the most common human illnesses – Skin disease.
This comes as the world marks Skin Health Day which falls on July 8.
Now this special event is a global initiative by the International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS) and the International Society of Dermatology (ISD) that aims to educate people about the significance of skin health.
It also advocates for equality around skin health access, encourages discussion and actions that work towards improving skin health, and highlights the importance of skin health access to mental, physical, and emotional health.
This is crucial as skin health is often underrated despite the skin being the body’s first barrier against bacteria, viruses, and pollutants.
The second part of the program spotlights Cervical Cancer – a type of cancer that occurs in the cells of the cervix.
With just more than half a million new diagnoses each year, cervical cancer is the fourth most frequent cancer in women. The incidence of cervical cancer is highest in western Africa.
Although it is a preventable cancer, that is, curable when caught early, cervical cancer remains deadly in low- to middle-income countries where screening and early detection are not readily available.
