It is no news that populations in countries of the Sub-region have been experiencing rapid changes with increases in life expectancy.
This unfortunately has added to the burden of age-related and neuro-degenerative conditions, one of which is Parkinson’s disease, a brain disorder that causes unintended or uncontrollable movements, such as shaking, stiffness, and difficulty with balance and coordination.
As the disease progresses, people may have difficulty walking and talking. They may also have mental and behavioral changes, sleep problems, depression, memory difficulties, and fatigue.
According to experts, symptoms usually begin gradually, sometimes with a barely noticeable tremor in just one hand, but worsen over time.
