In Ghana’s Wenchi Municipality, women and youth are increasingly taking part in governance and democratic processes, a shift many residents attribute to WADR’s current affairs program, Citizens Hour. The rebroadcast of the show on Royals FM 104.7 has amplified discussions on rights, responsibilities, and community leadership.

Local listeners say the program has significantly deepened public understanding of human rights and strengthened their confidence to engage in civic matters. For many, it has become a vital platform that connects citizens to governance issues that directly affect their lives.

During WADR’s recent field mission to Wenchi, residents highlighted the positive impact of Citizens Hour on the peaceful conduct of the 2024 general elections. They believe the program helped foster informed dialogue, discourage misinformation, and encourage community-led conflict prevention.

As WADR continues its series on the influence of Citizens Hour, correspondent Christopher Atitso visited the community to capture firsthand accounts of how the show is shaping participation, awareness, and democracy at the grassroots level.
