Following this year’s World Radio Day celebrations on February 13, West Africa Democracy Radio (WADR) extended the conversation to communities in The Gambia with an outreach event in Niomi, North Bank Region.
The engagement brought together residents, local leaders, and media partners to reflect on the evolving role of radio in a fast-changing digital landscape. Discussions centered on the theme, “Making Artificial Intelligence a Safe Ally for Radio,” highlighting how emerging technologies are reshaping journalism.
Participants explored how artificial intelligence can support news production, audience engagement, and information access, while stressing the need to safeguard credibility, accuracy, and public trust in broadcasting.
The dialogue reinforced radio’s enduring relevance in community development and democratic discourse, even as innovation continues to transform the media space.
