The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) has called on African nations to take full control of their resources and tackle illicit financial flows, corruption, and illegal mining.
Speaking at WACSI’s 20th anniversary launch, Executive Director Dr. Nana Afadzinu warned that these issues are causing massive losses, leaving many countries overly dependent on Western aid.
Her remarks come after the abrupt suspension of USAID funding to several nations, including Ghana, in January, which disrupted key development programs.
