The United Nations has called for a renewed commitment to democracy, warning that it is increasingly threatened by disinformation, political polarization, and shrinking civic space. Speaking on International Democracy Day, UN Secretary-General António Guterres stressed that democracy draws its strength from the voices and choices of the people.
He underscored that democratic values must remain a force for dignity, inclusion, and peace worldwide.
