The United Nations is calling on Cameroonian authorities to guarantee a transparent and inclusive presidential election on October 12.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights says the organization has documented growing restrictions on civic and democratic space across the country.

Authorities have reportedly banned gatherings, restricted movements, and excluded certain candidates from the electoral race, raising concerns about fairness.

While no names were mentioned, opposition leader Maurice Kanto was recently disqualified for alleged violations of the electoral code, fueling political tensions.
