London’s Metropolitan Police say more than 466 people were detained during a Saturday protest against Britain’s decision to ban the activist group Palestine Action.
The group was outlawed in July under anti-terrorism laws after members broke into a Royal Air Force base and damaged aircraft during protests. It accuses the UK government of enabling what it calls Israeli war crimes in Gaza.
Police said those arrested were held for supporting a proscribed organisation, while eight others were detained for separate offences, including five for assaulting officers. Authorities reported no serious injuries.
