The opposition United Democratic Party (UDP) has retained its seat in Gambia’s Massembeh Ward after a tightly contested by-election.

The vote was triggered by the passing of Councillor Bakary Korita on November 12, 2024.

This victory boosts the UDP’s momentum as it gears up for the 2026 general elections.
