In Ghana, two of the eight victims of the August 6 military helicopter crash have been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.
Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation and MP for Tamale Central, and Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, were buried on Sunday, August 10.
The Ghana Armed Forces reported that the Z-9 helicopter, carrying three crew members and five passengers, went off radar shortly after departing Accra at 9 a.m. It was heading to Obuasi for an event addressing illegal mining when it crashed in the Adansi Akrofuom District. A subsequent search-and-rescue mission confirmed there were no survivors.
